JEFF ANTON HEADS WEST TO RACE NORTHEAST MORTGAGE CHEVROLET IN PHOENIX

RUSSELL, Massachusetts -- Second-year NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series driver Jeff Anton will get a head start on the 2006 season by racing in the season opener for the Grand National Division, Autozone West Series at Phoenix International Raceway on January 22nd. It will be Anton's first West Series start.

Anton Racing team manager Dale Quarterley, who has a pair of top-ten finishes at Phoenix to his credit as a driver, said there were many reasons to have Anton start his racing year five months before the first scheduled East Series race.

"At the end of last season were were just getting him going," he said. "I had stopped racing and was able to spend some more time to focus on his side of the program a little more. In the early part of the season we were having trouble getting up to speed, but by the end of the season we got to the point where, during that long fifty-lap run at Irwindale, we were only half a lap behind the leaders after starting mid-field.

"This team's on a roll and the way they have the schedule laid out we decided to go to Phoenix and keep that roll going," Quarterley continued.

Anton will be driving the car he used most of 2005, a car nicknamed "007", which will be carrying sponsorship from Phoenix-based Northeast Mortgage.

"We've had some work done to the car over the winter so we're interested in trying some new stuff," Quarterley said.

Anton finished the 2005 Busch North season seventeenth in points after competing in twelve of the thirteen races run. He scored his first top ten in the series at Adirondack International Raceway and earned an invitation to the Toyota All-Star Showdown in Irwindale, California, where he finished sixteenth.####
