Modesto, California -- The Phoenix International Raceway will be the site of the first race of the 2006 racing season for both the NASCAR AutoZone Southwest Series and the NASCAR AutoZone Grand National West Series. Beebe Racing will have a busy weekend January 21-22, as they will be fielding three cars in the two different series. Eric Holmes will be doing double duty, as he will be driving in both the Southwest Series and the Grand National West Series. Eric ran a limited schedule in the Southwest Series in 2005 with great results. Running eight races in the 2005 season Eric had Bud Poles at both Infineon Raceway and Mesa Marin Raceway and finished in the top eight in all of his starts. Eric looks forward to the 2006 season and hopes to have a great weekend in both the Southwest Series and the Grand National West Series at Phoenix.
Jason Fensler will drive the second Beebe Racing Southwest Series entry. Both Jason & Beebe Racing are coming off of an impressive 2005 season in the SRL Wild West Shootout Series. In 2005 Jason won seven races, five poles, and finished in the top ten eleven times in the twelve races winning the 2005 Championship. Jason will be returning to PIR for the first time since 2002 when engine failure knocked him out early in the race. He has several top ten finishes at PIR with a best qualifying effort of third, and hopes to run well at the season opening race.
Team owner Allen Beebe has high hopes on bringing home victories in both series in the highly respected Copper Classic. “We have won races at PIR but have never won the Prestigious Copper World Classic. To win this race would certainly be one of the highlights of my racing career as a car owner”.
