PHOENIX, Arizona -- Scott Gaylord (No. 00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet) took tenth place at the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series portion of the Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway last Sunday. The United Rentals “125” kicked off the 53rd season for the West’s oldest stock car racing circuit.
"It was great to be back on the track in 2006," Gaylord said. "I was happy with the results, especially considering that we have a new car and several new crew members this year. Thanks to our pit crew for their quick work that allowed us to move up a spot after the pit stop."
The team qualified 15th out of the 40-car field. "We were running as high as sixth place, but then we lost some ground when the car's engine lost a cylinder and some power with just 20 laps to go," he added.
In addition to the battle on the track, Gaylord was fighting a 102-degree temperature and aches and pains of a nasty flu bug.
Next up: Back to Phoenix for a big race weekend that includes the NASCAR Cup race as well as several other NASCAR races. The Grand National race is scheduled for Thursday night and will be televised. Stay tuned for details.![]()
