VOLUNTEER SPEEDWAY GETS AN ASA UPGRADE

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida -- Volunteer Speedway, the self-proclaimed “Fastest Dirt Track on the Planet,” has made a fast change themselves, upgrading their ASA Member Track status to Level I for the 2006 season.

“It was really a simple choice for us,” explained track co-owner Phyllis Loven on the reason for upgrading their ASA membership. “In just one year with Dennis (Huth) and ASA we have already seen tremendous benefits and are just pleased to be part of the ASA Member Track program. This new level will give our competitors even more to look forward to with the increased money in our points fund and the improved participant insurance.

“My husband (Joe Loven, also a co-owner of Volunteer Speedway) and I have known Dennis for many, many years and we can really see the benefits of the ASA Member Track program and his vision for the program as it moves forward. We realize what a valuable tool it is for us and can see being with the program for years to come,” Loven added.

The 0.40-mile oval, located in Bulls Gap, Tenn., has extremely high 32-degree banking which leads to nearly unheard of speeds on a dirt track. The regular Saturday night program features six classes, including Super Late Model, Limited Late Model, Crate Open-Wheel Modifieds, Hobby Stock, Mini Stock and Front Wheel Drive.

The 2006 season runs from opening day on March 18 through September 30. For more information, or to see the complete schedule, visit www.VolunteerSpeedway.com or telephone (423) 235-5020.

“Many tracks around the country talk about being fan-friendly, but very few meet the level that Phyllis and Joe do at Volunteer Speedway,” said Dennis Huth, president of Racing Speed Associates which owns and operates the ASA Racing Member Track program. “At only $8 for a ticket it easily has to be one of the best values in racing, but to top it off with clean facilities, nice restrooms, and even a shuttle bus for the fans from the parking lot makes Volunteer Speedway one of the nicest racetracks in the United States – dirt or oval. They have set the bar very high and all racetracks should strive to be as customer-oriented as the staff has made Volunteer Speedway.

“I am thrilled to have them part of the ASA Member Track program, and even more excited that in just one year the Loven’s and their competitors have seen enough value in the program to jump up to a Level I member. They run a great show and are truly great people that are a credit to this industry.”

Tracks and regional touring series that join as Level I members in the ASA Member Track program are eligible for contributions to their year-end point fund, marketing assistance, and enhanced participant accident insurance to the competitors.
