PRINCETON, California -- Melo Gordon Motorsports has announced the signing of 15 year-old Outlaw Kart star Mason Moore of Princeton, CA to compete in the Open Intermediate division at Cycleland Speedway in Chico, CA.
Moore, the 2005-06 Open Intermediate Champion in the Red Bluff series, will team up with fellow MGM driver Alissa Geving in the Cycleland Speedway points series. Geving finished ninth in the Red Bluff points in her Rookie Season.
MGM is working on the team concept for this season. "The Moore's were sharing equipment with Alissa already, so we took the next step and signed him," Dana Melo said.
Moore will carry sponsorship from JME Microsoft, and XBOX, joining his other sponsors Moore Insurance, Crystal Geyer, and Blue Shield. Moore is also supported by QRC Karts and Clarke Bros. Racing.
After an exciting Red Bluff season that included nine fast times, Moore is optimistic about his chances in the Cycleland series.
"I think I have a good chance," Moore said. �Working with a teammate like Alissa--it gives you the extra edge. Having two heads is better than one."
Moore will also be running in eight-ten Arizona Midget Racing Association races at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ this summer. He will be renting a car owned by chassis builder Dave Ellis.
"I'm just hoping to get a lot of experience and to get better as I go," Moore said. His first race is slated for April 15, 2006.
The relationship with Melo Gordon Motorsports already appears to be paying dividends for the young and enthusiastic Moore.
"They're getting my name out there and I talk to them everyday," Moore said. "They're doing everything great and this is just a big plus."
