BLOOMFIELD, Iowa -- The Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway recorded a history-making night Friday with 115 cars checking in for action on Community First Bank and Bloomfield Equipment Night, with the first ever appearance of the O'Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring Series at Iowa's fastest 3/8-mile speedway.

The O'Reilly USMTS had a total of 45 cars checked in with 10 different states being represented. The crowd also got there money's worth with the other four support classes in action as part of the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series.

In the Kollision Korner Hornet feature, Tom Irwin of Bloomfield took his first win of the 2006 season, breaking the win streak of David Probasco of Moulton who had won the last two feature in a row. Irwin held off Larry Hopkins of Ottumwa with Curtis Barnes of Greentop, Mo., taking third and Kevin Garrett of Bloomfield in fourth.

The Kirkland Auto USRA Hobby Stocks had a total of 28 cars checked in for action with the first "B" main event having to be run to narrowing the field to 24 starters. The 15-lap "A" main proved to be exciting with six different lead changes as Todd Reitzler of Grinnell made his first ever appearance at Bloomfield a good one, taking the $200 payday and first ever feature win in the USRA Hobby Stock division. Reitzler held off several challenges from last year's track champion, Ben Jones of Williamsburg, who tried several times to make the pass but settled for the runner-up spot after starting in the 11th position. The third- and fourth-place finishers battled for the final five laps with Jim Walker of Mystic taking third and Steve Allen of Oskaloosa in fourth.

In the Hougland's Repair Shop USRA Stock Car feature, Jason Cook of Mt. Pleasant topped a 22-car field for the second straight week after working his way from the 10th starting spot. Cook took the lead from Mike Robinson of Moravia. Robinson took the race lead from Eric Flander of Barnes City, who led the first seven laps before Robinson took the lead working the high side of the speedway. Cook and Bobby Greiner Jr. of Ottumwa worked their magic through the field after starting in the middle of the pack. Greiner, who started in the 12th starting spot, followed Cook to the front with Cook making the pass on Robinson on lap 13 with Greiner following right behind him. The two drivers took the first and second spots with Robinson taking third and Flander taking fourth.

The USRA B-Modified feature went 15 laps with Tony Dunker of Quincy, Ill., taking the win as he held off Chris Leathers of Macon, Mo. and Jeff Waterman of Quincy, Ill. Leathers, along with Kelly Smith of Kirksville, Mo., and Waterman made for a good battle for the second, third and fourth positions. Waterman took the second spot followed by Leathers in third and Smith in fourth.

The final feature of the night was the cars and stars of the O’Reilly USMTS with seven-time national champ Kelly Shryock of Fertile starting sixth on the grid as the 24-car field took the green in the 35-lap Holley "A" Main. Using the low side of the 3/8-mile clay oval, Shryock methodically picked off competitors as he moved to the front of the field. On lap 12, Shryock caught race leader Mark Burgtorf and the two veterans raced side by side for three laps before Shryock secured the top spot on lap 15. Shryock then survived a late-race battle with Ryan Ruter of Forest City, taking the checkers by a nose.

Next week's line-up will see the Keith's Foods Late Models highlighting the action for a $1,000-to-win show presented by Cantril Feed & Grain and Harris Distributing. Also in action will be the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series featuring Hougland's Repair Shop Stock Cars, B-Mods, Kirkland Auto Hobby Stocks and Kollision Korner Hornets.
