ASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE CHARGES INTO IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY

UPLAND, California -- Jay Rutherford, President of Speed Truck Challenge, Inc., announced his driver entry list today for one of the premier events of the season. The third exciting race of the 2006 season will be held at Irwindale Speedway, sponsored by GO FAST SPORTS. This 75-lap race on this highly competitive race track will feature a full roster of 28 win-thirsty drivers at “LA’s ½ mile Super- Speedway.”

When asked this week about how the ASA Speed Truck Challenge season is progressing, Jay Rutherford stated; “We are already experiencing some of the best racing we’ve ever seen with a hotly contested race for championship and rookie points. Nobody should miss this great race on such a great speedway,” said Rutherford. Currently there are only 14 points separating the top three drivers in the series. Darren Young, Scott Dodd and Bobby McGowan are all in the hunt for more points as they all line up along with the other drivers to find their best race on this tough and very fast Irwindale Speedway track Saturday, May 13th.

“Although we had more yellow flags than in most of our races at our last race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway “Bullring”, continued Rutherford, we expect this week to be an incredibly fast and clean race. Wrecks are too costly for these teams, so drivers and spotters are going to be on their toes for this one.” Last year’s race at Irwindale saw one of the most spectacular photo finishes in ASA Speed Truck Challenge history when #5 Bobby McGowan was spun around backwards and won at the finish line over #23 Spencer Clark by mere inches. Rutherford told reporters that it was one of the most dramatic pieces of film footage that the series had ever recorded and broadcasted on the Outdoor Channel and expects no less from this week’s race which will be filmed with (14) on board cameras to capture footage for the “highlight” shows to be broadcasted in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2006.

Speed Truck Challenge now boasts seventy teams, ten different racing venues, and a race schedule that rivals any other driving circuit in the country. Speed Truck Challenge is the largest truck racing series on the west coast and is the only one that has been regularly covered by national television over the last few years. There is also strong anticipation of Speed Truck once again being shown on a well-known national racing channel for 2006, however at this printing, the broadcaster cannot be revealed due to contractual obligations yet to be completed.

ASA Speed Truck Challenge encourages all fans to come out to watch some of the most dramatic and hair-raising racing action in Southern California for this Mother’s Day spectacular on May 13th.

Irwindale Speedway will honor Moms in attendance during this Saturday night’s Southern California Pipe Trades Mother’s Day Celebration. The first 500 mothers entering the gates will receive a red rose courtesy of Irwindale Speedway and Simpson Florist.
