SHOOTOUT HEADS TO MADERA FOR SMOKEY HANOIAN CLASSIC

Wilton, California As American’s set to celebrate Memorial Day weekend, thousands of fans will flock to Madera Speedway for round number two of the SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout. Over 30 drivers have pre-entered for the “Smokey Hanoian Classic”.

Madera Speedway sits in the heart of California's Central Valley and has produced some of the best races in the history of the SRL. Fresno’s Ray Lawson Jr. has dominated the competition at Madera Speedway with six career SRL Wild West Shootout Victory’s on the 1/3 mile track. Jeff Belletto, Ken Boyd, Ryan Foster, and Joey Zampa have all scored victories at Madera Speedway in recent years. One driver to keep your eyes on this weekend is Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year contender Justin Westmoreland who won the 2003 and 2005 Late Model Track Championship at Madera Speedway.

Eric Schmidt won the season-opener at Shasta Raceway Park on April, 29th. Schmidt has a one point lead over Ken Boyd of Ceres, California. Sitting third in the standings is Keith Spangler of Chatsworth, California. Troy Ermish of Fremont, California is fourth in the series point standings with Mike Mendenhall from Santee, California rounding out the top five.

Roseville’s Jim Courage Jr. is sixth in the standings as he leads Tracy Bolin of Valley Springs, California, Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year contender Kyle Gottula from Modesto, California, Joey Zampa from Napa, California, as Kevin Vernon rounds out the top ten.

Kyle Gottula has a 16 point lead over fellow rookie David Mantooth in the Victory Circle Chassis and Parts Rookie of the Year point standings.

Troy Ermish set quick time at Shasta Raceway Park has leads Jeremy Wood by one point in the Qualifying Points Championship.

Jason Gilbert leads Wes Banks and Angelo Queirolo Qualifying Race Points Championship.
