CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- After winning his last two NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series races on ovals at Phoenix International Raceway and Irwindale Raceway, Andrew Myers, driver of the Toyota of Escondido/Red Line Oil #44, hopes his trip to “school” will help him win his third on a road course.
In preparation for Blue Lizard Suncream 200 on June 24 at Infineon Raceway, Myers made a special trip to Jim Russell Racing School at the picturesque Sonoma Valley racetrack. “The Russell School was a great experience, I learned a lot.
It was important to me to gain experience for this coming race but also for my racing future, said Myers. My instructors really showed me the little things it takes to run well on a road course. I feel I will be a lot more smooth and better able to hit my marks on these type turns. I really appreciate the quality instruction they gave me,” added Myers.
One of those instructors was former Infineon winner, Tom Dyer, “Andrew was a good student, he seemed to pick up everything we tried to teach him. He is a winning driver who I think he will do fine when he has to race on a road course, said Dyer.
“Andrew has a lot of opportunity now in front of him because of his wins but I was proud that he worked so hard to learn more on how to be a complete driver at this school,” said Myers Racing team manager, Phil Bonifield.
NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series, Blue Lizard Suncream 200 will be televised live in high definition on HDNet. In addition, an enhanced replay will air on SPEED.![]()
