MONROE, Washington -- Saturday night June 10 at Evergreen Speedway, it was one of the very few this season that was rainless. USG Night at the Races was a success for Les Schwab Tires NASCAR Bomber driver Naima Lang. Also receiving first place trophies in their respective divisions were Chuck Richard (NASCAR Mini-Stock), Nick Gunderson (Super Figure Eight), Sean Peters (Extreme Contact Figure Eight), Jason Majors (NW Pro-4 Truck), Garth McDicken & Nick Williams (Hornet) and John Yates (Outlaw Derby).
Former Bomber Division Champion, Naima Lang used the night off from racing a Speedway Chevrolet NASCAR Super Stock to win his first Bomber main of the season. Lang used the dry track to his advantage as he primarily used the upper groove to get to the front from a fourteenth starting position. On lap 28 of the 30-lap main, Lang was able to get by leader Merlin Cook and pulled away in the final laps for the win. Cook finished second and Travis Blackwood was third.
Returning to racing after a three year hiatus Mini-Stock driver Chuck Richard made it to victory stage after finishing second in the first four events of the season. Richard grabbed the lead from Renny Marose on lap 11 and went on to build a large lead. Second place finisher Mark Weedin ran out of time to catch Richard in the 30-lap main. Third place went to Nat Barber.
The FEAR Super Figure Eight 30-lap main was won by Nick Gunderson. Gunderson took the lead after John Carlson was caught up in traffic at the X and was unable to finish the event with a flat tire. Gunderson’s brother Ryan finished second ahead of, the winner of the last three of four mains, Doug Delfel.
Sean Peters the second generation driver in the FEAR Extreme Contact Figure Eight Division took to the point early in the 30-lap main and never was fronted. Troy Simianer had to spend most of the main to get by Sean’s dad Steve Peters to finish a distant second while Steve Peters finished third.
Eighteen Northwest Pro-4 Truck Series trucks started the 30-lap main and at the end Jason Majors won. Pete Brady was second and Bart Hector third.
Two large main events were needed to handle all the Hornets that showed for the USG night. The first main was won by Garth McDicken. Joining him on the podium were Jeff Light and William Schamp. The second main winner Nick Williams shared the spotlight with second place Chris Williamson and third Robby Shukar.
The ‘winner take all’ $3K Outlaw Demolition Derby was won by John Yates after the Junior Sukut car caught fire.
