SUPER LATE MODELS TO HIGHLIGHT ORANGE SHOW ACTION THIS SATURDAY

The Leno's Rico Taca ASA Super Late Models will highlight the racing action this Saturday, June 17th, at the Orange Show Speedway. The quarter mile, high banked, paved oval is loacted at the National Orange Show Fairgrounds in San Bernardino.

Ron Overman will be running on the momentum from his June 3d feature win. The Lakeside-California driver currently leads the series' points standings but he'll have plenty of competition on his hands from the likes of Mark Shackleford, Glenn Cummings, Tony Forfa Jr and Frankie Gould all, of whom, are still within striking distance of the points lead.

Also on the schedule will be the hard charging ASA Modifieds. This racing series was incorporated into the Orange Show Speedway's program late last summer following the closure of the Cajon Speedway where many of the teams raced at. Since that time they have quickly established themselves as a fan favorite at the Orange Show. Some of the series' top drivers such as Mike Salm, Mike Jackson, Doug Carpenter and Joey Mogar are expected to be on hand Saturday night.

The ASA Stock Pony Division will also be racing Saturday night. This division, comprised largely of Ford Pintos, has a very healthy car count and is always a fan favorite with their wide open style of racing. Two drivers, Jim Mardis and Jim Edmiston, have been the hot shoes in the division so far this season. Mardis won the May 20th and June 3d features while Edmiston was the big winner back on June 10th.

There will also be plenty of action from the Inex Legend Car Series. The open wheel cars, resembling 1930's style roadsters, are powered by motorcycle engines that are almost bulletproof. They are very light in weight and that allows them to tour the Orange Show's quarter mile oval at extremely fast speeds. John Mawhinney was the big winner during the series last visit back on May 20th.

The speedway's small car divisions will also be on hand this Saturday featuring the Mini Stock Cars and the Bandeleros. Both racing groups feature two divisions comprised of adults and youngsters and offer a very exciting, not to mention unique, brand of racing.

Tickets for Saturday night are $10, $8 for seniors, 62 and over as well as military and juniors age 13 to 16. There's $2 tickets for kids age 6 to 12 while kids five and under are admitted free. The gates open at 5 pm and the racing starts at 630 pm. You can call 909 888 6788 ext 512 or dial up their website at www.nationalorangeshow. com/speedway for####
