YAKIMA, Washington -- Shane Mitchell won the Bud Pole for the Penguin Plumbing 125, the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series event at Yakima (Wash.) Speedway.
Mitchell, of Orondo, Wash., logged a lap time of 19.041 seconds which translates to 94.533 mph on the 1/2-mile oval. It is the first Bud Pole of the season and the first of his Northwest Series career for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender in the Mitchell Paving & Trucking/Coca-Cola Chevrolet.
Brandon Riehl was second quick at 19.044 seconds followed by Gary Lewis, Pete Harding and his son Shane Harding. The invert for the race is six.
The 29-car field is scheduled to take the green flag in the main event at 8:45 p.m. PDT
