:REDDING, CA--Melo Gordon Motorsports teammates Mason Moore and Alissa Geving put on a clinic for 19 of the 20 laps in Saturday’s Outlaw Kart race at Cycleland Speedway in Chico. In one of the most successful nights for the duo of the season, Moore got edged on the final thrilling lap, finishing second by half a kart length, while Geving finished fourth.

With his third second place finish of the season, the 15-year-old Moore out of Princeton, Calif., moved into first place in the season points championship, holding a 16-point edge over Kyle Larson.

For the fifth consecutive week, he posted the fastest qualifying mark against the field of 36 in the Open Intermediate Division and had the fastest lap of any qualifier in all divisions. The two-time National Champion stormed through the field for his third trophy dash win in his No. 22 Blue Shield of California/Moore Insurance Services/Crystal Geyser Outlaw Kart.

For the third consecutive week, 15-year-old Geving out of Penngrove, Calif., qualified seventh but was on point during the invert in the Main. She led the first 10 laps of the race in her No. 3x QRC Karts/A1A Muffler/Crystal Geyser Outlaw Kart before giving way to Moore. The duo ran one-two for six laps as the teammates held off many challenges.

Geving, who won her heat race for the third straight week, now sits sixth in the title chase. Both Moore and Geving are still chasing that elusive first Main Event win at Cycleland.

“We came within a couple of feet of a win, but both drivers drove a clean race and it was thrilling having them running one-two for part of the race,” said Dana Melo, owner of Melo Gordon Motorsports. “I know they both made their dad’s proud on this Father’s Day weekend. Each week, the anticipation to get back to the track on Saturday builds for Mason and Alissa, and now to have Mason in the points lead and Alissa in contention adds to that anticipation.”
