OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- The first day of summer was a mix of just about everything you could imagine from hot temperatures to thunderstorms early in the morning dropping around a half-inch of rain in Oskaloosa, Iowa, but the sun came out and racing action was held with the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series. It was Kids Night at the Southern Iowa Speedway with all the young race fans getting candy, cash and a chance to win one of six bicycles donated by The Club House of Oskaloosa.

In the USRA Hobby Stock feature, Bobby Greene of Eddyville led all 15 laps for the win, holding off Todd Reitzler of Grinnell who passed Greene in turns 3-4 on lap 7, but Greene powered back in front to take the lead and drive to victory lane. Jared Sanders of New Sharon and Mike Shelton of Ottumwa battled for the third position, with Sanders taking third and Shelton fourth.

The Musco Lighting USRA Modified feature was won by Brad Pinkerton of New Sharon, adding to his track points lead. The second spot went to first-time visitor Barry Sandeman of Creston, with David Ott of Ankeny in third and Terry Walker of Riverside taking fourth.

The third feature was the Cookie's BBQ Sauce Dirt Truck Series with Karl Moyer of Ankeny taking his sixth win of the 2006 season and adding to his points lead. Matt Waugh of Des Moines took second with Mike Hoffman of Des Moines finishing third after working his way from fifth. Rick Clark of Des Moines garnered fourth after starting eighth. This was the third appearance for the trucks in 2006.

The fourth and final feature of the evening to wrap up the program was the USRA Stock Car feature with rookie driver Colt Mather of Webster taking the checkers. Mather held off Brad Pinkerton and T.J. Criss of Oskaloosa, followed by Eric Flander of Barnes City, who was the early race leader before Mather took the top spot from him.

Next Wednesday, June 28, is Kids Night presented by DRS Transport as the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series "keeps on trucking" with another electrifying Wild Wednesday Night program featuring Musco Lighting USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars and USRA Hobby Stocks, plus special activities for kids, including a candy grab and a new bike giveaway. Admission is $9 for Adults, with Juniors (13 to 18) & Seniors (62+) $7 and Children 12 and under FREE. Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 7:15 and racing gets underway at 7:30.
