LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- United Nissan teammates Darren Young and Lee Hatch take home first and second place honors at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring Saturday night.
Hatch, driver of the No. 03, qualified on pole with the fast time of 16.431 and went on to win the trophy dash by six car lengths. Hatch rolled a two starting the main off pole taking over the lead on lap two where he remained for 58 laps dominating the race.
During lap 60 Hatch got loose in turn two and Young successfully completed a pass on him. During the last 15 laps there was a steady stream of yellow flags and Hatch was unable to regain the lead. The United Nissan pair engaged in another one-two victory and now lead the championship points battle.
“I was loose on the short runs and with all the yellows at the end and lapped traffic getting in the way, I just couldn’t complete a successful pass on Young,” replied Hatch. “It was a great team victory for United Nissan and it was a excellent points night for Darren and I. I have to thank all the guys on Team United Nissan they did a great job tonight, especially Greg Knight. I am very thankful for this opportunity to be part of this outstanding team. I also have to thank Chris Hines for his help with our set up.”
“ I want to thank United Nissan for providing me this opportunity to show what we can do for them,” said Young. “It was a really tough win for us especially having to pass my teammate Lee Hatch three different times because of yellow flag situations at the end. It is nice to have him as a teammate because he always races me so clean. It was great for the United Nissan team to finish number one and two again here in Vegas. I dedicate this win to Spencer Clark who lost his life way too young.” Team United Nissan would like to thank their proud sponsors of the No. 03 and No.18: Boulder Auto Body, Terrible Herbst, Canyon State Oil, Simply Signs, Monarch Promotions, Ever-Ready Glass, A.J. & Associates Insurance Agency, The Jewelers and Dings.
Hatch and Young will head to Orange Show Speedway to contest the fifth race of the season on Saturday, July 1st. For more information on the ASA Speed Truck series log onto www.speedtruck.com.![]()
