YAKIMA, Washington -- After setting fast time Erick Hargraves continued his winning ways and won the mid-season championship for the late models. It looked like after B.J. Tidrick winning the fast trophy dash might be a challenge for Hargraves. Then during the main event it looked like Rod Schultz Jr. might run away with a win until he lost an engine while leading and taking second placer Tidrick with him. Tidrick work his way back up to fourth place when the checkers flew with Ron Bemis in third and Jack Mondor III taking second.
J.C. Wofford repeated his winning ways after watching Rick Christopherson set fast time for the street stocks then seeing Andy Beaman win the fast trophy dash with Chris Jeffery taking the B Dash. With only a few adjustments Wofford got his car set up for the heat race and the main event with Casey Merrill on his tail in both races.
The H and H Furniture Hobby stocks saw some very close racing as Darrell Wynn set fast time, but Dusty John winning the A-Dash and Jesse Vincent taking the B-Dash. Then it was Don Klang winning the first heat race and Ben St. Mary taking the second heat race. During the main event the top five drivers demonstrated excellent driving skills as they raced for position and respecting each other throughout the race. The racing was so close that it was suggested several times during the night that a blanket could cover all five racers. Richard Peters took the checkers as Marcus Maggard took second, Jesse Vincent took third, Dusty John taking fourth, and Don Klang taking fifth.
The crowd pleasing Hornets and Bump to Pass cars rounded out the evening racing with Kyle Wade and Jeff Burns taking home the honors on the little 1/5th mile track
The next race will be July 1st and Yakima Speedway will host the ARCA Truck Series along with the Yakima Street Stocks, H and H Furniture Hobby Stocks, Hornets and Bump to Pass. On July 4th will be the Annual Fourth of July Demolition Derby. In store for fans of wrecks and mayhem will be the boat races and last car running. The last car running is where all the engine fluids are drained from a regular street car and then started and the last car running wins.
