ANTELOPE, California -- Peyton Sellers and the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS/NAPA Belts & Hose team came away from the road course of Infineon Raceway with a fourth place finish and moved up five positions to second in the chase for the NASCAR Grand National Division, AZ West Series Championship. The #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS/NAPA Belts & Hose Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS qualified on the outside of the third row for the start of the race after being the fastest car on the track during the first practice.
“The #16 NAPA Chevrolet ran great all weekend,” said Sellers. “Crew chief Duane Knorr and boys back at the BMR shop did an outstanding job preparing the car for this road course race. We had a small problem during the first ten laps but we worked thru it. ”
The #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet made a scheduled pit stop at lap 28 and took on fresh tires and fuel. By lap 38 of the 64-lap race, Sellers had piloted the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS back into the top five and had the front runners, NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Brian Vickers and Boris Said in sight. Sellers gained one more position before the checkered flag fell bringing home a third top-five finish for the season.
“I really enjoyed racing at Infineon Raceway,” said Sellers. “We had such great support from the NAPA AUTO PARTS store owners, employees and customers at this event. They came by the bus load from as far as Reno and Sparks, Nevada. Some came from Fort Jones which is about a six hour drive from the track. Over 500 people greeted us at the NAPA Hospitality tent. We really appreciate all their support.”
The #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS team next heads on to Douglas County Speedway for the Bi-Mart Firecracker ‘150’ presented by NAPA Belts & Hose in Roseburg, Oregon.
“Roseburg, Oregon reminds me of my home in Virginia,” Sellers continued. “It’s beautiful country. This is new track for me but not for the #16 NAPA AUTOP PARTS team. They have brought home a win two of the four times the series has raced there. We’re looking to come away win another win for NAPA AUTO PARTS and move forward towards our goal of winning a fourth series championship for our race partners.”
The Bi-Mart Firecracker “150” presented by NAPA Belts & Hose will take place on Saturday, July 1, 2006. This is the only NASCAR race in Oregon and this will be the fifth time this series has visited the Douglas County Speedway. For information on the event, please log on to www.billmcanallyracing.com.
