TIM SAUTER LOOKS FOR SPEEDWAY SUCCESSBUSCH SERIES
Source: Perry A. Hintz
Three years later much has changed for DTC Motorsports, now renamed McGill Motorsports it is solely owned by John and Nancy McGill from Jupiter, FL. Besides Grissom, Travis Geisler, Stanton Barrett, and T.J. Bell have been behind the wheel of McGill’s #36. The current driver, Wisconsin veteran Tim Sauter is 24th in the NBS driver standings. With finishes of 19th and 21st at the first two plate races of 2006, the return to Daytona could be just what the team needs to kick start what has become an eventful season. The team has had more than it’s fair share of misfortune including three DNF’s due to accidents that were not of Sauter’s doing. Some recent personnel additions and new racecars have had the team running better lately. Expectations of the team for the second half of the year are high. In the season opener at Daytona, the #36 team had some good fortune by missing the last lap crash involving nearly one-third of the field. Sauter actually crossed the finish line in 19th place while sliding backwards through the grass to avoid the melee. Sauter hopes the team can repeat it’s performance, “We have a solid speedway program and the Wegner motors have been great all year long. We actually should have finished better at Talladega than 21st, I’m going to do my best to improve on that finish.” Lester Buildings was not originally scheduled to be the primary sponsor this weekend, but has agreed to trade a race later in the year to help both parties. Lester Buildings VP Larry Lembrich feels that the team is due for a strong run Friday night, “I think this team is ready to break out and run up front and I want to see Lester Buildings on board when it happens.” The Winn Dixie 250 will begin at 8 p.m. on June 30 and will be televised live on FX. • This will be Tim’s 101st start in the NBS and 106th career NASCAR start. • All three Sauter brothers will attempt to make the Winn Dixie 250. • Tim is currently 24th in the NBS driver point standings. • This will be the fifth time Tim has competed at Daytona in the NBS, best finish: Feb. 2001 - NAPA Auto Parts 300 - Finished 10th, started 7th. Tim’s thoughts on the Winn Dixie 250: “This is only a 100 lap race, so we will have to be on our toes the entire race. Our two best finishes have come on the plate tracks, this team could sure use a solid finish we have given up some points lately and we need to get them back.” • This will be the fifth time McGill Motorsports has competed at Daytona in the NBS, best finish: Feb. 2006 – Hershey’s Kissables 300 - Driver; Tim Sauter - Finished 19th, started 22nd.
Affordable primary sponsorship is available on the McGill Motorsports Chevy Monte Carlo SS for five of the remaining races on the 2006 NBS schedule.
