FIRST TIME WINNER A ROOKIE WINS LMCS FIRECRACKER USA 100

Kalispell, MT (July 1, 2006): In only his fourth ever start as a Late Model Racer former Legend Champion Alex Lessor of Kalispell, MT won for the first time at Montana Raceway Park. Troy Conrad (Tacoma, WA) the Late Model Challenge Series point leader finished second and second in points Shelby Thompson (Spokane, WA) was third.

Early race leader Kevin Richards (Spokane, WA) had to leave with a flat tire giving the lead to pole sitter Lessor. As the 100-lap race wound down Lessor was able to lengthen the distance on Conrad and Thompson. Conrad had to make a pass within the final 10-laps to get by Thompson to put a few more points between the two for the 2006 LMCS Championship.

A second lap crash sent Rick Thompson (Prosser, WA) over onto his roof and atop the wall in turn 4. Thompson came back onto all four but the car was a loss. Many other drivers were involved losing four including Mike Zamora (Kennewick, WA).

The series now moves onto Mission Valley Speedway in Pablo, MT tomorrow July 2 for race number six of the ten race series. Time trials are at 5:00pm and Racing starts at 6:00pm.
