QUOTES:

Driver—Burney Lamar:

You will make your debut at Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway, what advice has your crew chief, Gene Nead, given you about racing at the 1.5-mile speedway?

“Gene Nead (crew chief) has been a great help with advice going into tracks that I’ve never seen before, he is able to pull from his bag of knowledge and explain tracks to me. Obviously this will be similar to the other mile-and-a-half tracks we’ve already run, which should be good because the learning curve won’t be quit so steep.”

“I would say it’s similar to Vegas (Las Vegas Motor Speedway), and Kansas (Kansas Speedway) type of tracks, and maybe even Kentucky (Kentucky Speedway).”

“Gene (Nead) and the guys on the team have rebuilt chassis No. 018 to take to Chicagoland (Ill.). This was the same car that we raced at Atlanta (Atlanta Motor Speedway), Texas (Texas Motor Speedway), and Charlotte (Lowe’s Motor Speedway). Unfortunately, I wrecked during the first practice session at Lowe’s and the Dollar General stores crew had to put a rear clip on the car.”

“I had the opportunity to go watch at Chicagoland (Ill.) last year with the crew chief for Tony Raines, Lance Deiters. I was able to watch practice for the Busch cars.”
