WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON- After an up and down first half of his rookie season in the Northwest tour, Brent Harris is looking forward to turning things around in the second half. Since failing to qualify for the race in Twin Falls, Brent finished fifth at his home track in Wenatchee and posted another top 5 finish at Monroe this weekend.
"We had some issues with the car in the beginning of the year but , since we found all the gremlins, we have posted two top 5 finishes." said Harris. "Not making that race in Twin Falls hurt us in the points really bad. I wish we could have found out what was wrong with the car earlier , but all we can do now is try to keep on posting top fives so we can have a shot at the top ten in points." He added.
Brent started on the outside front row this weekend at Monroe after qualifying ninth and a ten car invert. He was running in the third position at the time of "the big one" that collected the leader. A scoring miscue put him to the back of the pack with half the race already down. "I wasn't to happy about having to go to the back but, the car was good and after I calmed down I realized we still had a chance at getting to the front." explained Harris. Back to the front is were he indeed went. "I wish we would have had a few more laps, I think we could have got a couple more positions out of the deal. The car was great!" added Harris.
Brent is looking forward to returning to Yakima this weekend. "I am excited about our program, its finally turned around. The last time were were there (Yakima), we were junk but, I think we have got the car to were it needs to be to run with the leaders." said Harris.
After being as low as 21st after the Twin Falls race, Brent is currently 14th place in the points but, only thirty four points out of tenth place. "We still have a shot at going to Irwindale, and that has been our team goal all along." explained Harris.![]()
