CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Andrew Myers won the last NASCAR Grand National AutoZone West Series race at Irwindale Speedway on May 20 and since then has been on a mission to repeat his victory when the series would return to the track known as “L.A.’s Half Mile Super Speedway”. The Myers Racing team, lead by Phil Bonifield, set out a truly aggressive schedule to prepare themselves for this Saturday’s King Taco 200.
The team used two major events at famous NASCAR Nextel Cups series tracks to keep Myers and crew sharp. Their first challenge was the fast road course at Infineon Raceway near San Francisco, California on June 24th. Andrew would start 8th and finish 10th in the Blue Lizard Suncream 200 NASCAR Grand National AutoZone West Series. Then this past weekend, Andrew and company would compete in the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series race at New Hampshire International Speedway.
At NHIS, Andrew Myers qualified 12th and finished 15th in the New England 125.
Myers lead laps 21 through 39 and was in contention to finish even higher than he did but for a cut right front tire caused by debris from a wreck on lap 71.
“We had a fast hot rod today. That was for sure, said Andrew. They knew we were here and now I can go to Irwindale and run all out knowing we have great stuff and we are ready.”
“Andrew has taken to these Nextel Cup Series tracks like Phoenix, Infineon and New Hampshire like he truly belongs here, said Bonifield. I continue to be impressed with his driving.” “Irwindale will not be easy but I think we have even gotten better than we were last time in a lot of areas.”![]()
