MONROE, Wash. (July 29, 2006) – Brandon Riehl earned the Bud Pole Award in the Washington National Guard 150 presented by Creekside Retirement Center. The NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series event is being held at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash.
Riehl, of Boring, Ore., completed one lap around the .646-mile track in 22.743 seconds which translates to an average speed of 102.256 mph. It is his first Bud Pole Award of the season and the fifth of his Northwest Series career.
Shane Mitchell was second quick with a time of 22.855 seconds (101.755 mph) followed by Jeff Barkshire at 22.884 seconds (101.626 mph). Shane Harding and Travis Bennett rounded out the top five qualifiers.
The 29-car field will start with a six-car invert putting Jay Sauls and Bennett on the front row for the 150-lap race. The green flag for the Washington National Guard 150 presented by Creekside Retirement Center is expected to wave at approximately 6:30 p.m. PDT.
