MIKE DAVID WINS NASCAR WEST RACE AT STOCKTON 99 SPEEDWAY

STOCKTON, Caliornia. – Mike David won a fierce see-saw battle with Eric Holmes to take the victory in the Dodge Country 200 at Stockton 99 Speedway on Saturday and gain a slight edge in the championship chase in the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series.

The win gave David a sweep of both series events this year at the historic quarter-mile paved oval. It was also a sentimental win for the second-generation driver, as the series was making its final visit to his home track before the track’s scheduled closing next month.

Holmes, who won the Budweiser Pole, led the most laps as he and David swapped the lead back and forth. David charged ahead on a lap 144 restart and pulled away in the closing stages to win by 1.260 seconds.

Peyton Sellers finished third, followed by Austin Cameron and Scott Gaylord.

David edged ahead in the championship standings with a five-point margin over Holmes, unofficially. The pair entered the Stockton event tied in points.
