CORONA, California -- When August rolls around each year that usually means an entire month off from competition in the ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series and most teams use this time for family vacations and to re-group for the final five events on the 2006 schedule. This is not the case for Dallas Leininger of Corona. Dallas has a full time job as the crew chief of the #35 Hype Manufacturing/Clay Andrews Racing Dodge driven by 15 year old Randel King of Riverside.
Dallas mentioned to his brother Robert that he was interested in seeing what it was like in the cockpit of a race car. Robert Leininger wasted no time in making that dream come true for Dallas as last Saturday night the Leininger duo, with the help of Hassim Mendez and Jace Thomas, made their debut in the competitive West Coast Pro Truck series at Irwindale Speedway. Dallas raced his tight handling #15 Hype Manufacturing/ Adams Kart Track Chevrolet truck to a very respective ninth place in what is the first competitive event Dallas has ever driven in. “the truck was tight all weekend” he stated, “but we had a great time and I am very thankful to have this opportunity to drive in my first race!”
Dallas and his brother Robert are excited about racing their WCPT at the Orange Show Speedway on August 19th. The next ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series event for Randel King is a road course race, the St. John’s Grand Prix in Arizona on Labor Day weekend. Randel King is the developmental driver for Clay Andrews Racing who also fielded the #84 Ranchwood Homes Chevrolet driven by David Gilliland in the NASCAR Busch Series. Gilliland shocked the NASCAR world when he won the Busch race at Kentucky Speedway in only his seventh series start.![]()
