WASHINGTON 150 FOR LMCS AT WVSO

GRAHAM, Washington -- This Saturday night August 19 at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval the Late Model Challenge Series returns to the highly competitive high banked 1/4-mile. With just 3 races remaining to decided the 2006 LMCS Champion and a mere 18 points separation between the top two the 150-lap main will have everyone involved on edge.

Racing 50-laps more than the usual 100 will be a test for driver and tires. Tire conservation will be the buzz words all night. With temperatures expected into the 90’s the drivers will be tested for stamina.

Current point leader Troy Conrad wishes all the LMCS races of the 10-races were at WVSO. In the previous two races at WVSO this season Conrad has been perfect as fast qualifier and race winner. Conrad will be looking for a three-peat and adding back some of the points he has lost in recent weeks.

It is just the opposite for second in the points chase rookie Shelby Thompson. At WVSO Thompson had his two lowest finishes this season with a fifth and seventh. In the other five races this season he has been on the podium four times with three thirds and a second.

With 25-points awarded to the fastest qualifier and 100-points to the winner of the 150 Thompson can not afford to let Conrad gain all the points again. Conrad has been the Vogtland Springs top qualifier four times and Thompson twice both in the last two events on the circuit. Thompson has yet to make it to victory circle while Conrad has the two wins.

Jason Hedrick, the LMCS Champion in 2003, is third in the chase. Not an insurmountable 77-point deficit for Hedrick, he has to gain every point and hope for Thompson and Conrad to slip back.

Over 25-cars are expected for the longest race at WVSO for the LMCS this season. The night also includes the Pure Stocks and Mini Super Stocks. The pit gate opens at 12 noon with front gates opening at 5pm. The important qualifying sessions begin at 6:00pm followed by racing at 7:00pm.
