THE WILD WEST RETURNS TO MADERA

MADERA, California -- This Saturday, August 19th, the SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout returns to Madera Speedway with current points leader Eric Schmit leading the pack. The SRL Late Model tour has put on some of the most exciting pavement racing in California and on Saturday, Schmidt will be challenged by the young Kyle Gottula, the veteran driver Ken Boyd and representing the Belletto family who have been racing since 1970, Steve and Jeff Belletto. SRL local stars will include Madera’s Bryan Herzog, Dennis Schlundt and the return of 2005 points champion, Justin Westmoreland. Seasoned tour driver, Nathan Tucker will make his SRL 06’ debut as the pilot of the Madera Auto Center #2 Chevrolet in their first SRL race of the season.

Also on tap are the Selsor Construction & Demolition Street Stocks with Tony Schmitz, Russel Sciarrillo, Jillaun Holden and Chuck Aguirre battling for the points lead.

The always entertaining Toyota Sedans will appear with Jason Kerns and Randy Fleming currently tied for the points lead.

Let’s not forget the Hornets with Rick Minor and the always charging Sue Hannah both going for the points lead.

Come on out this Saturday and see some Wild West action and fill your Need for Speed as mother nature forecasts great weather for racing. The California Highway Patrol will also take part in the racing action with their message, “Drive Alive” campaign against drunk driving and unsafe driving habits.

Join us at this Saturday at the “Fastest 1/3 Mile in the West” as the summer sizzle cools just in time of the racing action of the Speedway. The grandstands will open at 3:00 PM with Qualifying, an autograph session is set for 5:15 PM and green flag racing begins at 6:00 PM.
