SARAH FISHER WILL TEST THURSDAYINDYCAR RACING
Source: Klint Briney
![]() Sarah Fisher returns to the cockpit this Thursday at ChicagoLand Speedway for a test in preparation for the Peak AntiFreeze Indy 300 on September 10th. Dreyer & Reinbold Racing will re-partner with the three-time Most Popular Driver, who of course competed in the car at Kentucky Speedway two weeks ago (started and finished 12th). The 25-year-old Fisher has the two best finishes of any female ever in Indy-style racing of second and third. Danica Patrick of course has the next best finish of fourth. “I’m really looking forward to the test Thursday and getting a baseline and going form there, said Fisher, who has a best starting position of 12th and a best finish of 18th at ChicagoLand Speedway and came in 2002 and 2003 respectively. “I think there are some things we can do with the down force levels and take some drag out of the car and get it to turn a bit better. We have a good game plan going into it and we will just continue to fine tune it and hopefully we can come away with another flawless execution. Chicago seems to be bit easier as a track compared to Kentucky. But each track has it’s tendencies that you have to apply. It’s been a while since I’ve been there. I’m a life-long learner so I’m sure there are things I’ll pick up again.
With Fisher stepping out of the car for the weekend for road racing ace Ryan Briscoe, Fisher did join the team during their travels to Sonoma to take in as much as she could from the weekend from the sidelines.
“It was just an awful weekend in terms of things running smoothly for the team, said Fisher, who is trying to have her helmet painted but is hesitant in how quick that will get done. “It just didn’t go smooth. Things were happening right and left making it tough for anything to run smooth. Despite that, it’s always good to watch a good road racer do his thing.”
The Peak AnitFreeze Indy 300 will be the 14th race in the 14-race 2006 season on the IndyCar Series circuit. Raced at ChicagoLand Speedway in Joliet, Illinois, the race will be carried live on ABC at 1:30 p.m. (EDT) on Sunday, August 27th. Additional coverage will be available on IMS Radio, XM Satellite Radio Channel 145 “IndyCar Racing” and www.indycar.com.
