Andrew Myers, driver of the No. 44 Toyota of Escondido / Red Line Synthetic Oil Chevrolet will make his return visit to California Speedway Friday night in the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series. Myers will attempt to qualify for the Relocate Here 200, the second-to-last race on the series’ schedule. Myers is looking to improve on his 21st-place finish in last year’s race and will use the car Burney Lamar won with in last year’s race.
“I really feel confident I can push this car to victory for the second consecutive year,” said Myers, who has two wins this season at Phoenix International Raceway and Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway. “I’ve been testing with this car extensively and feel comfortable we have the car poised for a strong finish here at the California Speedway.”
Crew Chiefs, Phil Bonifield and Jamie Aube both said they believe Myers is ready for a good result Friday night.
“Andrew has been putting some added solid seat time in the car,” said Bonifield. “I am confident he will do our sponsors, Toyota of Escondido and Red Line Synthetic Oil proud in the race. We’ve run into a bit of bad luck the last couple of races – the finishes haven’t shown the team is capable of winning each week – but I think that’s all behind us now. Andrew is absolutely ready to return to Victory Lane.”
“We look forward to the bigger tracks on the circuit,” said Aube. “This track is a challenge for any driver and Myers is ready. We’ve been looking forward to this race all season long with the Toyota of Escondido / Red Line Synthetic Oil team. Everyone on this team feels Andrew can and will excel at this two-mile track.”
The Relocate Here 200 NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series race will be televised live on HDNet on Friday, Sept 1 at 8 p.m. PDT.![]()
