Mike Duncan made a late-race charge for the lead with one lap remaining to take the win in NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series action at California Speedway on Friday.
His move was the 12th lead change among eight drivers to cap off the Relocate Here 200 presented by San Bernardino County.
Duncan, a two-time and defending series champion, credited pit strategy with providing him with a car capable of moving to the front late in the 100-lap event. He waited until within 25 laps of the finish to take on fresh right-side tires. He then took advantage of a caution in the closing stages to mount his charge to the front.
Jim Inglebright benefited from the late-race scramble to take second, with Eric Holmes close behind in third. Nick Lynch and Brett Thompson completed the top five.
The third-place finish by Holmes was enough to move him into the lead in the championship standings over Mike David, 1,539 to 1,512, unofficially.
