TIDRICK COLLECTS BUD POLE FOR AERO EXHAUST 200

B.J. Tidrick won the Bud Pole for the Aero Turbine Mufflers 200 in the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series at Yakima (Wash.) Speedway. He got around the 1/2-mile oval in 19.017 seconds which translates to an average lap speed of 94.652 mph in his Winner’s Choice/CBT Hobbies and Slot Cars Chevrolet.

It was the first pole of the season for the driver out of Yakima, and the first of his career in the Northwest Series for the Sunoco Rookie-of-the-Year candidate. He is the fourth rookie to win a Bud Pole in the Northwest Series this season.

Wilbur Bruce, of Lakewood, Wash., logged the second-fastest time in his Quality Rentals/Rent-N-Roll Chevy. His time was 19.077 (94.354 mph).

Those two drivers were locked into the front row for the main event tomorrow evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. PDT. The rest of the field was set by twin 25-lap qualifying races.

The first qualifying race was won by Garrett Evans of East Wenatchee, Wash. in his Leonard Evans Hyundai/Signature Finance Chevy. Tidrick finished second followed series points leader Gary Lewis. Jeff Barkshire and Mike Longton rounded out the top five. This heat set the inside row for Sunday evening’s race.

The second of the two heat races was won by Brandon Riehl, of Boring, Ore. in the Aero Exhaust/Darrell’s Economy Muffler Chevrolet. Shane Mitchell finished second followed by Steven Howard. Erick Hargraves and Jason Fraser rounded out the top five. And this heat race determined the outside row for tomorrow night’s main event.
