B.J. TIDRICK WINS THE AERO EXHAUST 200YAKIMA SPEEDWAY
Source: Gene Wachtel
![]() It was an exciting night as the NASCAR Northwest Tour Field rolled on to the track. Cars and crews were positioned on the front straight as track manager announced that there would be a Northwest Tour next year with three committed tracks and five others still in negations. After this declaration, fans were allowed on the track to meet the drivers and crews. Once fans were back in their seats the Aero Exhaust 200 began with Wilbur Bruce taking the lead only to slow down for a red flag on lap three when Erick Hargraves, Jeff Bailey, and Lex Johnson tangled and spun on the front stretch with Johnson hitting the wall hard. When the cars finally stopped and the dust cleared Johnson got out of his car and walked to the pits unscathed. The green waved again and on lap 38 rookie B.J. Tidrick worked his way underneath Bruce to take the lead. Garrett Evans shadowed Tidrick throughout the race never letting Tidrick get more than a car length away from him. On lap 147 Chris Ratterree hit the front straight wall collecting Joey Decker. Both drivers walked way and both cars had to be hauled back to the pits. Tidrick continued to lead with Evans on his tail letting Tidrick know that he was there by tapping his rear bumper several times as the laps counted down. When the checkers flew it was Tidrick, Evans, Gary Lewis, Jeff Barkshire, and Travis Bennett. Bennett starting in the back row and earned the Power Move of the Race and the Most Improved Driver award as he worked his way up to the top five. In the Late Model Challenge Series on Saturday, Brandon Riehl won the Sea Galley Crab Legs 100. The 100-lap race started out a little shaky as the green flag was waved and cars began to check up causing an accident just before the start/finish line resulting in Erick Hargraves finishing the night with a tore up racecar. The Street Stock Division ran Saturday with Rick Christopherson setting fast time, but not able to pass J.C. Wofford in the 35 lap main event. Casey Merrill and Chet Beaman Jr. battling for the lead, tangled as Beaman tried to pass on the outside and both went off the track in turn three to give J.C. Wofford the lead. The H & H Furniture Hobby Stocks had Ken Mullins set fast time, but it was Bryan Moser that ended up winning the main event. This was Moser’s first win after several second place finishes this season. NASCAR Late Model Tour – Fast Time: B.J. Tidrick 19.017 Aero Exhaust 200: 1) 72 B. J.
