LAS VEGAS – The 50-lap Mechanix Wear Speed Trucks main event belonged to Darren Young of Gilbert, Ariz. and the 40-lap NASCAR Late Model feature was claimed by Barry Bradshaw of Bakersfield, Calif., Saturday night at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Randy Brown of Sante Fe Springs, Calif., started on the pole of the Speed Trucks feature but gave way to Young on the second lap. Young dominated the event for 40 laps until the first caution came. With caution laps counting, the green flagged waved with two laps to go, but the race was halted again a lap later for Troy Decuir of Pinon Hills, Calif. Decuir, winner of the Speed Trucks feature in April at The Bullring, was running fourth when he crashed bringing out the final caution of the event and setting up a green, white and checkered flag dash to the finish. On the restart, Roger Ketelsleger tried to steal the lead from Young. He was unsuccessful leaving Young to take the checkered flag and the points lead of the West Coast traveling truck series. "Vegas is a great town. This is one of our favorite stops of the season," said Young. "We had an accident in the trophy dash, and the crew worked really hard. This shows what teamwork can do." In the NASCAR Late Model main event, Scott Gafforini dominated the first half of the race, but on lap 25 Bradshaw took the low line and claimed the lead. Bradshaw pulled away leaving Gafforini and Chuck Trickle to battle for second. With less than 10 laps remaining, Trickle and Gafforini collided bringing out the sixth and final caution. The crash allowed points leader Dick Cobb to move into second followed by his son Rick. Steve Anderson finished fourth, and Legends driver Jason Allen, who started 26th, made his debut in the NASCAR Late Model division with a fifth-place finish. T.J. Clark took the win in the Grand American Modified race. In the Hitchin’ Post/Exiss Legends race, Kyle Busch won. Tom Youmans claimed the win in the Charger Division. In Mini Stocks, Casey Kingsland visited victory lane. In the Bandoleros, Justin Johnson claimed the victory. Shon Rawlings was the winner of the Demolition Derby. NASCAR LATE MODELS
