HAYGOOD WINS OPEN WHEEL CLASH AT CNSCOLORADO NATIONAL

The Grand American Modified feature had Terry Tjarks and Jeff Purvis on the front row. Purvis jumped to the early lead over Ed Vecchiarelli Jr and Joel Hansen. Vecchiarelli Jr took the lead on lap 3 with Hansen following into second over Purvis, Adam Shrove and Terry Tjarks. By lap 10, Barney Visser moved into the fifth position as Vecchiarelli Jr continued to lead over Hansen, Shrove, Visser and Purvis. Vecchiarelli Jr took the win over Hansen, Shrove, Visser and Purvis. Paco Morales and Ricky Otts were on the front for the Super Modified feature. Otts led until Johnny Pickard got by on lap 3 with Ira Castor settling into third over HJ Evans and Cris Muhler. Skip Mikula broke for a lap 7 caution and pulled into the infield, but not far enough in to be safe. Pickard continued to lead over Otts, Muhler, Evans and Castor. Joe Priselac took fifth on lap 16 and Castor broke for a caution. Pickard led Otts on the restart over Muhler, Evans, and Priselac. Muhler spun for a lap 27 caution flag to bunch up the field. Priselac fell back on the restart moving Richie Castor into fifth. Muhler and Evans both got by Otts by lap 30 and Pickard took the win over Muhler, Evans, Otts and R Castor. Brandon Lee and Billy Mentgen were on the front row for the Midget feature. Greg Schaefer took control on the first lap over Kyle Ray. Ray took the lead on lap 3 over Schaefer, Tony Rossi, Chris Shiel and Keith Rauch. While Ray checked into his own zip code, Shiel moved into second. On lap 18, Rauch slowed for a caution to bunch up the field. Ray continued to lead over Shiel, Schaefer, Butch Middleton and Rossi as Rauch moved back up through the field. Ray took the win over Shiel, Schaefer, Middleton and Rossi. Kevin Schramek and Keith Rauch were on the front row for the Winged Sprint Car feature. Rauch led on the first lap over Bob Schaeffer. Nick Haygood was second on lap 4 and went to work on Rauch. Haygood took the lead on lap 6 as Rauch felt to second over Brian Gossell. By lap 15, Gossell was second over Rauch, John Gerloff and Chad Corken. Larry Bensenberg broke on lap 19 and Corken hit the wall to avoid the slowing car. Corken continued and Bensenberg made it off the track. Schaeffer was now back up to fifth behind Gerloff. Haygood took the win over Gossell, Jake Pierson, Rauch and Gerloff. In the Legend car main event, Greg O’Donnell and Tim Hindman were on the front row. Scott Miller spun in the first lap and continued. Chris Eggleston slowed down the front-stretch and was getting pushed by Bob Peck. Bert Chapman also slowed on the track for a caution flag on lap 2. Eggleston was sent to the rear and Brent Miller pitted. David Johnson Jr took the lead on lap 3 with Anthony Medina in second. Medina took control on lap 5 and Jon Krizman spun for a lap 6 caution and Tyler Chrisinger was penalized to the back. A Medina led Johnson, Danny Medina, Plummer and Krizman on the restart. Contact sent Danny Medina spinning on lap 9 and everyone missed Medina and he resumed. On lap 10, Keith Law and Greg O’Donnell tangled for a caution with O’Donnell into the turn 1 wall. On the restart A Medina led Plummer, Krizman, Eggleston and David Johnson. Jace Hansen was fifth on lap 11 and Plummer took over the lead on lap 13. Eggleston took third on lap 14 and then went to work on Krizman. D Medina was back to fifth on lap 15 knocking Hansen back to sixth. A caution flew for debris on lap 20 and Eggleston took the lead on lap 21. Plummer and Krizman spun on lap 27 and both continued. D Medina was now second over Plummer, A Medina and Hansen. Eggleston took the win over Plummer, D Medina, A Medina and Hansen. The first group to qualify was the Super Modifieds and Johnny Pickard set quick time with a 14.545. Richie Castor was a close second at 14.547 and HJ Evans was third quick at 14.678. In the Midgets Keith Rauch was the quickest at 15.877. Kyle Ray was second quick at 16.131 and Chris Shiel was third quick at 16.265. Brian Gossell was quickest in the Sprints with a 14.586 lap. Nick Haygood was second over Jake Pierson. In the Legend car series, Terry Plummer was quick time with a 18.750 lap. Chris Eggleston was second quick over Danny Medina. In the Modifieds, Barney Visser zoomed to quick time with a 17.051 lap. Joel Hansen was second quick over JD Gresham. Julee Jamison and John Gerloff were on the front row for the Sprint Car Trophy Dash. Gerloff took the early lead over Jamison and Jace Penetta. Jake Pierson took fourth ahead of Nick Haygood. Haygood took fourth on lap 4 and reeled in Penetta. Haygood took third on the last lap and Gerloff won over Jamison, Haygood, Penetta and Pierson. Kevin Day and Paco Morales were on the front row for the first B-Main in the Super Modified division. Morales took the early lead over Ira Castor and Harry Stone. Castor took the lead on lap 4 with Stone second over Morales, Joe Priselac and Day. Priselac took over third on lap 6 and Castor took the close win over Stone, Priselac, Morales and Day. In the second B-Main for the Super Modifieds Ricky Otts was on the pole with Cris Muhler to his outside. Muhler took the lead early over Otts, Richie Castor, HJ Evans and Johnny Pickard. Pickard shot to third on lap 6 and Muhler took the win over Otts, Pickard, Castor and Evans. Kevin Schramek and Keith Rauch were on the front row for the Sprint Car B-Main. Jeff Wheeler crashed on the first lap for a complete restart. On the restart, Rauch jumped to the lead with Chad Corken and Bob Schaeffer following. On lap 3, caution flew for Keith Rauch’s wing falling down blocking his vision. Corken took over the lead over Schaeffer, Rich Bubak, Kevin Schramek and Kent Conrad. Bubak took second on lap 4 and Corken cruised to the win over Bubak, Schaeffer, Schramek and Conrad. In the first Legend car B-Main, Bob Peck was on the front row with Chad Wilson to the outside. Wilson led early with a pack of hungry cars behind him. Terry Plummer moved into second and took the lead on lap 4 with Danny Medina moving into second. Kyle Clegg moved into third on lap 7 with Anthony Medina right behind and Jace Hansen in fifth. A Medina took third on lap 8 and Plummer won over D Medina, A Medina, Hansen and Clegg. In the second Legend car B-Main, Keith Law was on the pole with John Chiesa to his outside. Law led early and then Greg O’Donnell took control of the lead. Troy Simpson stopped for a lap 2 caution. O’Donnell led on the restart over Law and Jon Krizman. David Johnson Jr moved into third on lap 2 and then Chris Eggleston took over the third sport with Johnson Jr falling to fourth. Krizman was fourth on lap 5 with Tyler Chrisinger in fifth.
