WILLOW SPRINGS SET FOR ANOTHER BIG WEEKEND OF RACING ACTION

There's going to be plenty of racing action this Saturday and Sunday, October 7th and 8th, at the Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond featuring a variety of racing on three different tracks at the mammoth motorsports complex.

Saturday night's action is highlighted by stock car racing on the quarter mile, paved, oval known as the Willow Springs Speedway. The evening will feature action from seven different racing divisions led by the Super Sportsman stock cars.

Multi time track champion, and six time feature winner this year, Chris Peedan continues to lead the Super Sportsman standings with 593 points going into Saturday night. He holds a 38 point lead over Rosamond's Alex Anderson who is a two time feature winner this year. John Penning, also a two time winner in 2006, remains in third 53 points behind the leader.

Also on Saturday's night's racing card will be the high flying I-4/I-6 Outlaw Modifieds so named because teams have the option of running four or six cylinder engines. Jeffrey Goddard, a four time feature winner this year, remains on top of the standings with 551 points. Season rival Ric Bronson, also a feature winner this year, is 36 points behind him in second.

The Legend cars, which resemble 1930's and 40's era roadsters powered by motorcycle engines, are one of the more popular divisions at the Willow Springs Speedway and will be returning this Saturday night. Acton's Art Neville, with three feature wins, leads the standings with 387 points and holds a lead that is virtually unreachable at this late point of the season.

The Bandeleros, very small but very fast race cars, will be making a return appearance to the Willow Springs Speedway this Saturday night. In the Bandelero Bandit Division Tyler Fabozzi is on top of the standings with 283 points but only holds an 11 point lead over Aaron Anderson. Not to be overlooked here is the presence of main event winner Jeremy Birch who goes into Saturday night third in the standings and only 22 points behind the leader.

In the Bandelero Young Guns Division two time feature winner Andrew Anderson leads the standings with 334 points but only holds an 18 point advantage over Ashley Ambritz who's also a feature winner this year.

The Lightning Cup Divisions, tiny replicas of NASCAR Nextel Cup cars, will also see action this Saturday. In the Senior Division two time winner Dean Caskey remains in the lead with 280 points. Keeping it all in the family is Patty Caskey who's in second 27 points behind her husband. In the Junior Division four time winner Joey McKeag has 280 points and a 28 point lead over Kalvin Smith.

Also seeing plenty of action this Saturday and Sunday is the Willow Springs' 2.5 mile, 9 turn, road course which will host the 8th annual Fall Formula Festival sanctioned by Historic Sportscar Racing West. The event will feature a wide variety of formula cars and a one hour enduro.

The Streets Of Willow Springs, a 1.8 mile road course, will be hosting motorcycle action presented by the California Motorcycle Road Race Association this weekend.

General admission tickets are $10 each with children under 8 admitted free with a paid adult. The general admission wrist band will allow you to see all of the racing on both Saturday and Sunday as well as free parking, camping, access to the 2.5 mile road course pit area and paddock area. The road course events will start in the morning hours while the stock car racing begins at 6 pm Saturday evening. For more information call 661 256 6666. The Willow Springs International Raceway is located at 3500 75th Street West in Rosamond.####
