With Tucson Raceway Park hospitality treating Home Depot staff and 3M friends to great food and weather, the Tucson Raceway Park racers gave everyone in attendance a great night of door to door racing excitement. The night started with NASCAR Super Late Model qualifying and Tucson's own Matt Levin setting the mark by winning the Bud Pole with a career best 15.59. The National Anthem was sung by Drew Suarez in front of an anxious Tucson Raceway Park crowd.
As has been all season long Tucson Raceway Park management are always willing to shake things up and try something different. Tonight the Super Late Models ran a ten lap Trophy Dash with all the seven competitors lined up inverteacd, racing for the DASH win! When ten laps were over, it was Matt Levin winning another Trophy Dash!
The Tucson Raceway Park young Lyon's were next on track for their eight lap heat which was won by Austin Trebilcock. The NASCAR Mini Stocks heat race was won by Jim Bates over his son Chris. The Townsend's Performance Factory Stock heats were won by Matt Levin and David Rooyakkers. The Legend's eight lap race was dominated by point's leader, Suave Brachowski over Eric Christensen. The Modifieds ran eight laps in nothing flat with P.J. Megna winning again over birthday boy Chris Stress. After a brief intermission to eat some of TRP's world famous chicken tenders, and ice cold Budweiser or Coca Cola products, it was time for the night's main events.
The first out tonight were the INEX Bandoleros where youngsters as young as eight years old race in spec racers around Tucson Raceway Parks oval. When fifteen laps of bumper to bumper action were complete, it was Trebilcock over Andrew Norman and Christian Vesper.
The NASCAR Mini Stocks were hotly contested by the Bates duo out front and Bertie and Bernier out back. After twenty laps of non stop action, it was the elder Bates over son Chris and Becky Harrington in the lonely truck.
The Townsend's Performance Factory Stock main event was all Cascade Electric teammates, as Kenny Kington led flag to flag over "The Boss" Rooyakkers while Ben Shepherd and Loren Sheffield had their own race for third with Shepherd nosing him out at the end of twenty laps.
The INEX Legend cars were all Brachowski with young Romano Cionni beating out Amy Elizondo for second.
The Modifieds were again short on car count but not short on wheel to wheel excitement. Stress led the first two laps over Megna and Jerry Thitchener. As laps ran down, Megna showed why he has dominated the class the last few years to win by a straightaway over Stress and Thitchener.
The NASCAR Super Late Models were next up with Rookie James Beck leading the first lap over Ron Norman. Norman took command of the next sixteen laps over hard charging Levin until side by side, door handle to door handle tire smoking contact in turn two saw both Norman and Levin spin together bringing out Taylor Colvin's yellow. After the restart, it was Beck leading all the way with Norman working hard on the bottom groove trying to overtake rookies J.D. White and T.J. Simmons. On lap twenty four of thirty, Norman got by White for second and set his sights on Beck but the pupil was just too strong tonight as he beat the teacher by just six inches at the checkers for his first Tucson Raceway Park win!![]()
