The parched racing scene in the Midland-Odessa region is about get some badly needed relief. That’s because, the local speed plant, Champion Motor Speedway (formerly Midessa Speedway) is about to fire back up for business.

This Sunday afternoon, November 19, the drought comes to an end and the gates will swing open once again as the “Panacore Corporation” presents the inaugural WEST TEXAS TANGO powered by “102.1

On the dance card … the Double H Bands - Modifieds, the SOS Staffing - Winged Sprint Cars, the Stemarco Corp. - I Stocks, the Dakota Auto Sales - Sport Mods, the AutoRacingToday.com - Street Stocks, and the NTune – Hobby Stocks will take to the high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval.

Fans and racers will see considerable changes and improvements when they enter the Champion Motor Speedway. The fans will be greeted by a new concert quality PA sound system, new FM radio based PA system in the pits, new concessions, remodeled restrooms, and freshly painted facilities including the main grandstands.

Just added for this special event, the Texas debut of “Thunder Theater” which will feature the NASCAR Nextel Cup season finale on two 52” high definition TV’s presented by Aaron’s Sales & Lease. TRS Satellite, Inc. in Midland will provide the satellite signal.

This Sunday the pits open at 11am, front gates at 1pm, and the show starts at 2pm. Cya @ the West Texas Tango this Sunday afternoon!####
