Monday, November 20th the fate of the only Quarter Midget Race track in southern California will be decided by the Pomona City Council. The Council will be meeting at Pomona’s City Hall on the corner of Mission Blvd and Garey Ave. at 7PM to decide if the track will be able to stay on the city owned property or if the club will have to close.
Pomona Valley Quarter Midgets is asking for your help by attending the meeting and supporting the club in their motion to stay at its present location. The track has been at the same location for over 50 years with many famous drivers getting their start there. Drivers such as Jeff Gordon, Jason Leffler, Josh Wise, Sleepy Tripp, Kenny Hendricks, Steve Paden and Danny Stratton have raced at this track. Up and coming drivers such as Scott Dodd, Chris Johnson, Van Knill, Garrett Hansen, Matt Mitchell, David Ross, Austin Grabowski and others also raced at the Pomona Valley Track. Pomona Valley is the oldest quarter midget track in the country and it would be difficult for the track to have to move locations.
If you can attend this meeting on Monday to help support the club it would mean a lot to the current and future members of the kids racing association. Pomona Valley Quartermidgets is racing for kids from the ages of 5 to 16 that race on a 1/10th mile track doing lap times of about 5 seconds.
