Gridley, CA -- After two great seasons for its Late Model Series, the Westcar organization has announced the creation of the Eldorado Hotel Casino Westcar Pot O’ Gold Grassroots Championship.
The Pot O’ Gold Championship will pit drivers from all over North America in two separate championships, one for asphalt and one for dirt racers.
The $10,000 first place prize for each championship will be open to any four-wheeled weekly racer in North America who competes in oval track racing. Drivers of any age are eligible to compete.
Each driver will enter his or her results from each week of competition at their home track or series through a login on the Westcar Pot O Gold website. The series will track drivers each week through pr and take the best 12 finishes towards determining the champions.
Points will be determined based on a 20 car field, with 50 points going to the winner and the points decreasing by two points for each position thereafter.

Membership registrations are also open to crew members and fans, and member dues will directly go into the purse fund for the competitors.

The Westcar Series was started in late 2004 in Northern California by Phil Perry of Perry Race Cars and Jeff Macey of JME, who looked to create a solid touring series for weekly-type Western Late Models.
