Lloyd Mack of Los Angeles (Calif.) has been selected to the 2007 NASCAR Drive For Diversity program. Mack who is a past IKF champion as well as the current WKA champion in TAG will pilot the #26 Star Motorsports entry in the NASCAR Grandnational West series in a joint effort with west coast powerhouse Chris Diederich racing!

Mack who raced go-karts from 1992 –2000, and part time since then has amassed over 100 karting victories and 4 victories in the nascar weekly racing series. Over his karting carrer mack has had the opportunity to be a factory driver for several teams such as Mike Manning Karting, Team Margay, JM racing, and the most notable one Kart Racing Technologies in which he has spent a decade with! At the 2007 drive for diversity combine held at south boston speedway mack followed suit with fellow go-karter paul harraka in going 1-2 on the time charts and proving to the nascar community that go-karters can drive anything on 4 wheels. Despite going out in the first group in the a.m. session mack caught the attention of Sam Belnavis who is in charge of driver development at “Roush Racing”. Since Mack is from the west coast Nascar thought it would be best if Mack represented the program in the west series.

When asked what does it feel like to be selected by nascar to represent the diversity program mack stated: “It’s a dream come true for myself as well as my family. My father still works as the tech director for IKF region 7 and is a firm believer of karting! When I cut back on karting my father put somebody else in my stuff and refused to leave! Lol. So for me to make it out of karting and local late model racing its just a dream that I never thought would come true”! I think that all of my experience in late models, modifieds, spec trucks, and brief stint in the IRL infinity pro series will definitely come into play and help me out at this next level! Also the people at Irwindale Speedway have taught me a lot as well as taken me under their wing the last few years, and with out them none of this would be possible!
