Gridley, CA -- The Eldorado Hotel Casino Reno Westcar Late Model Series announced its six round 2007 schedule of events on Sunday.
2007 will feature a new track, large purses, new sponsorships, and increased competition.
The third year series for asphalt Late Model stockcars in Northern California will be making a return visit to Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson, CA for three dates.
Competitors will compete in 100 lap races on the 3/8ths mile oval on May 19th, July 14th, and August 4th.
New to the 2007 schedule is Ukiah Speedway. Ukiah is a high-banked and fast quarter-mile asphalt oval that will host its first ever Westcar Late Model Series event on March 31st.
Ukiah will also host a very exciting date on Friday, June 22nd, in correlation with the Nextel Cup Series competition in Sonoma.
The race is currently scheduled as a Friday night contest, with the event possibly be moved to Saturday. More exciting news on this race is coming soon.
Westcar will conclude its 2007 campaign at Ukiah Speedway on September 22nd.
2007 marks a transition season for the series, before an 08 campaign which will feature at least five different race tracks and large events that will be recognized on a national scale.
The relationship Westcar is building with Blair Aiken of Ukiah Speedway and George Wade of Shasta Raceway Park was instrumental in furthering the series, and is a major part of the 2008 plans.
Several drivers have already thrown their hats in to try and knock off defending series champion Shannon Mansch of Roseville, CA. Two 17 year-old drivers, Josh Combs of Sacramento, CA and Bobby Hodges of Carson City, NV, will join other stars from the North State, Sacramento Valley, and Northern Nevada in the title hunt.

The Westcar Series was started in late 2004 in Northern California by Phil Perry of Perry Race Cars and Jeff Macey of JME, who looked to create a solid touring series for weekly-type Western Late Models.
This series became the Westcar Late Model Series, which is preparing for its third season in 2007.
