The recent Race for a Reason - Tony Hunt celebrity race event was a smashing success! The fun day of karting at RPM Indoor Kart Racing raised $23,000 for the local Make-a-Wish Foundation.

"We are all very pleased with the support and the outcome", said Hunt. "To make a big jump from $15,000 last year to $23,000 this year shows that we are getting better and smarter at raising money for this great charity".

Hunt played host along with Brent and Sue Webb of RPM to over 100 drivers, and numerous race fans Sunday. Country music singer Kevin Sharp and buddy Brad McFarland kicked things off with the Star Spangled Banner - which was followed by a round of qualifying, a pit stop challenge, and a final enduro.

When all the numbers were crunched it was Clovis sprint car driver Jason Meyers who emerged as captain of the winning team. Meyers and all of his teammates received plaques along with Ogio gear bags valued at $100 each. Pit Stop Challenge winners took home a Red Robin restaurant gift card, while the fastest qualifying team won similar cards to Outback Steakhouse.

Hunt said the event "would have been impossible to pull off" without the help of sponsors, Prosper Magazine, Wirtgin, Viamedia, Bicycles Plus, El Dorado Casino Hotel WESTCAR Series, Crusin' Inc., and Wayside Lumber.

Star power was provided by not only Hunt, Sharp, and Meyers but also the likes of sprint car Hall of Fame driver Jimmy Sills, and accomplished road racers Memo Gidley, and Joey Hand.####
