The 2007 Eldorado Hotel Casino Reno Westcar Late Model Series has signed its final two dates for the 2007 racing season. Westcar will be returning to the ultra-fast and newly remodeled half-mile Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, CA for two dates.
The dates, April 21st and August 4th, slot in with the previously announced goals of approximately one race a month. Westcar will double up the month of August, with an August 18th appearance at Shasta Raceway Park, but drivers will get a break until a September 22nd finale at Ukiah Speedway.
Pacific Grove, CA pilot Dave Byrd already announced plans to campaign for the 2007 championship. Byrd picked up more than a dozen wins at Altamont last season in NASCAR competition, and should be a favorite when the season kicks off March 31st at Ukiah.
Byrd’s car owner, Bob Strandwold, will also compete.
Santa Rosa sisters Melissa and Christina Davis will both return to Westcar competition in 2007 as well. Melissa’s career is highlighted by a runner-up finish in the 2005 Westcar championship that came down to the final race.
These drivers join previously announced full-time efforts from Randy Reeves of Modesto, Brian Koski of Pleasanton, Chet Danburg of Carson City, NV, Bobby Hodges of Carson City, NV, Craig Swim or Orangevale, and Josh Combs of Sacramento, CA.
Other 2007 competitors will include Troy Shirk of Oakley, Scott Chappell of Lodi, Wes Miller of Turlock, Eric Nascimento & Greg Potts of Manteca, Todd Schneider of Petaluma, Michael Wendt of Stockton, Jim Courage Jr. of Roseville, Katie Crome of Reno, NV, Rich Lawlor of Sparks, NV, Eric Schmidt of Roseville, Gary Glenn of Orangevale, and Shannon Mansch of Roseville.
Northstate stars Dane Nissen and Roger Gannon will also appear with the series on limited occasions in 2007.
