Antelope, CA -- Bakersfield, California native Eric Richardson will pilot the No. 20 GreenFrogRoasters.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for Bill McAnally Racing (BMR) in the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series for the first five races of the 2007 season.
Richardson grew up watching racing at his local short track, Mesa Marin Raceway dreaming of the day he could get behind the wheel. In 2002 at the age of 16, he began racing in the Late Model Division at Mesa Marin earning the Rookie of the Year Award. He went on to become the Late Model series track champion in 2005 before moving on to the NASCAR Southwest Tour. Richardson finished 12th in the chase for the 2006 championship by recording a top 5 and 2 top-ten finishes in the final season of the NASCAR Southwest Tour while working with Gary Collins as his crew chief and mentor.
With being busy this year busy with the new track in Kern County (which is expected to be open for the 2008 race season) Gary put Eric in contact with BMR looking to continue in his development as a driver.
“I learned a lot working with Gary,” said Eric. “He really taught me how to be a racer and most importantly, how to communicate with the team. No matter what kind of Saturday night we had, come Monday morning, we were moving forward focused on the next race.”
“I’m really excited to be racing in the West Series with BMR,” said Richardson. “I never thought I’d get an opportunity like this. The race shop is amazing. They’re giving me everything I need to win some races. I can’t wait to get to Texas.”
