CORONA, California -- When the Lucas Oil ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series presented by Go Fast opened the 2007 season at I-10 Speedway in Blythe, CA the first weekend of March, Riverside resident Randel King and the Hype Manufacturing Team led by talented crew chief Dallas Leininger began an all out assault on the ASA Speed Truck Challenge Championship.
The Blythe event proved to be a disappointment with King finishing 14th in the 100-Lap Main Event after running as high as third only to cut a tire sending him to back of the field. The series makes the first of two appearances at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA on Saturday, March 17th.
The Randel King Racing Team has experienced great success at the tight Orange Show Speedway 1/4 –mile short in San Bernardino and this weekend’s event should be no different than in the past. “We are hoping that our luck will be better for this event because we usually do real well at OSS.”
King drove his #35 Hype Manufacturing/Clay Andrews Racing Dodge Dakota truck to a respectable sixth place finished in the 2006 ASA Speed Truck Challenge point standings and was the 2006 ASA Speed Truck Challenge ‘Rookie of the Year’.
What makes Randel King different from other teenagers is that he is the developmental driver for Clay Andrews Racing who also fielded the #84 Ranchwood Homes Chevrolet driven by David Gilliland in the 2006 NASCAR Busch Series. Gilliland shocked the NASCAR world when he won the Busch race at Kentucky Speedway in only his seventh series start.
The next ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series event for Randel King is on the tight 1/4 –mile 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu on April 9th. For more information check out his website at www.randelkingracing.com.![]()
