NOTES:
• This Week’s Race Car at Bristol Motor Speedway … Timothy
Peters will pilot chassis No. 056 from the Richard Childress Racing (RCR) NASCAR
Busch Series stable. Last year, Kevin Harvick ran it in both races at Dover
(Del.) International Speedway (won the pole, finished 13th in June; started
24th, finished third in September) and in August at Michigan International Speedway
(started ninth, finished eighth).
• Are You Experienced … Peters has two NASCAR Truck Series starts
at Bristol Motor Speedway. In 2005 and 2006, he earned two top-20 starting positions,
one top-20 finish, and completed 96 percent of the total laps.
• Pack it Up and Go … Peters is scheduled to be behind the wheel
of the No. 21 AutoZone Chevrolet for the next six races and 11 of the next 12.
Between this weekend’s Sharpie Mini 300 and the June 23 AT&T 250 at
the Milwaukee Mile, the May 11 Diamond Hill Plywood 200 at Darlington (S.C.)
Raceway will be the only race he’ll miss.
• So I Got That Goin’ For Me … Peters’ 17th-place showing
in his season debut at California Speedway (Feb. 24) was the highest finish
of any driver in the race without a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series ride.
• RCR/NBS at BMS … In 32 NASCAR Busch Series starts, RCR teams have
claimed five wins – four with Harvick and one with Jeff Green –
15 top-five and 18 top-10 finishes. Additionally, in 96 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series
starts at Bristol, RCR boasts eight wins – seven with Dale Earnhardt and
one with Kevin Harvick – three poles, 23 top-five and 42 top-10 finishes.
• Catch the Action … The Sharpie Mini 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway
will be televised live Saturday, March 24, on ABC beginning at 2:30 p.m. Eastern
Daylight Time (EDT). The race will also be broadcast live on the Performance
Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the sixth of 35 races
will air live on ESPN2 on Saturday, March 24, beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT.
TIMOTHY PETERS QUOTES:
On racing at Bristol Motor Speedway
“As far as I’m concerned, Bristol is nothing more than a big Orange
County Speedway (Peters earned Late Model championships at the Rougemont, N.C.,
track in 2002 and 2003). It’s what I’m used to so I’m very
comfortable racing there. I ran the Truck Series races at Bristol in 2005 and
2006 so I have some experience. Orange County isn’t banked as much as
Bristol but it was pretty fast. The Busch race is twice as long as the Truck
race but RCR has the equipment and the personnel to give me the confidence I
need.”
On running 11 of the next 12 races
“I really don’t like sitting out races so I’m looking forward
to the opportunity to get more comfortable in the AutoZone Chevrolet and with
Shane (Wilson, crew chief) and the guys. I’m confident enough to feel
that California is going to be our worst finish. This is a great race team so
I’m ready to get going.”
