Alright we have come quite a ways in racing… teams with real PR people and databases to archive racing stats…but what about the racing memories?

We all have those funny memories, both on and off the track. Well, Dave Reed, came up with the idea of producing a book to save all those memories in.

Dave himself has plenty to share, like the NW Tour race at Portland International . As he relates it, “After the race some of the guys were trying to ‘borrow’ banners off the fence and the security guard came chasing after them and a certain driver backed all the way 50 yards into the fence, not once but twice and tore off the whole side of the mini van. Then the team made it back to the hotel and they wrapped me up like a burrito in the banner.” A

Alright, now you know there was more to that than what Dave said there….that is what the book is for…to get the whole story.

Where will the book begin? Thirkettle? Press? Esau? Schmitt? Or the modern era of Evans? Eaton? Raudman? Hornaday? Carelli? Harvick? Monroe?

Maybe chapter one alone could be on all the rental car stories. Not just a drunk book, but a feel-good funny book that brings back happy memories. This is a chance to save the history not as a dry recount penned by the professionals about the era, but a book brought to life by those who lived the era.

If you have a funny story to share, a goofy rumor that was never dispelled, photos, whatever relates to the history of our racing, please email dreed@racingwest.com. If you prefer to contact him by cell you may request his number via the email.
