SOUTHWEST PRO-4 LATE MODELS INVADE TRP

Following a terrific Friday the 13th Test N Tune, twelve Pro4 Late Models that arrived from thousands of miles away were ready to do battle on Tucson Raceway Park's 3/8 mile paved oval. Early on in the afternoons practice Kendall Scheidecker backed the Becker Pro4 into the turn 1 crashwall doing extensive damage to the beautiful #41. After two hours of hurried repairs, Scheidecker was able to finish third in the second heat to Rex Lockwood and Brian Jackson. Qualifying was headed by Brian Glidewell and the four car Dash was won by fast Eddie Secord. The first heat was Glidewell over Secord and Kurt Madsen. After the heats were completed a dice roll set the full field invert putting all the fast guys out back. Kyle Cline led the first eight laps until being overtaken by Secord whom had fast qualifier Glidewell in tow. Secord and Glidewell were side by side door to door for fifteen laps when Glidewell exited with a blown engine. Cline had dropped bask as far as fourth during the race and rebounded to take a well deserved second at the checkered to Secord. Tommy Fowler was tonight's hard charger coming from last to third at the finish. A return visit of the exciting PRO-4's is in the works for October or November with a 75 lapper and Big $$ up for grabs..

The INEX Legends had five cars present with Wes Fry being the one to beat. Fry was fast qualifier, won the heat and led the main until mechanical failure allowed Suave Brachowski, Cassie Gannis and young Blake Leuth to battle to the finish with Brachowski spinning out while attempting an inside pass on lap twenty. Gannis went on to win over Leuth and Romano Cionni III.

Only four Modifieds competed this evening with Pat Bush being the man to beat. Last weeks winner, Chris Stress, won the Trophy Dash over Bush and last year's Champion, P.J. Megna. Bush won the heat over Stress and Bush again dominated the 25 lap main with Stress trying every line on the track to get by. At the finish it was Bush, Megna, Stress and Bill Harrington.

Next week the ASA Speed Truck Challenge will take to the track for the "Truck Stop" 100 Lapper.
