ASA LATEMODELS – HURRY UP AND WAIT AT DCSRacing in Douglas County was put on hold on April 21st due to weather, giving the ASA Latemodels 3 extra weeks to prepare for the 2007 points chase.

The ASA Feature Division in the Douglas County Speedway’s Saturday night line up will see Coquille Oregon 's #3 ASA Latemodel driver, Alan Cress, defending his 2006 Douglas County Speedway Championship.

Cress will face fire in 2007 from speedway veterans including Dale Roth, Riley Watson, Matt Class, Rod Scevers, Wade Koens and Harlen Koens all from Roseburg .

Rickey Wiley, North Bend, Bryon Harvey of Sutherlin, and Chris Paxton from Medford are also staging a 2007 assault on the defending champion.

Entry forms from drivers and teams from inside and outside of Douglas County keep rolling into the speedway office, promising great battles on the track.

Cress’s closest competition in the 2006 points hunt was Medford ’s rookie standout, Adam Whitlock. Whitlock and his #39 ASA Latmodel are also gearing up to unseat Cress in 2007.

This seasons Rookie of the Year candidates thus far include the #32 of Mark Pothoff out of Dundee and Springfield’s Thomas Willie driving the #0 Oregon Duck Car.

Making the jump from the COORS Street Stock division, Pothoff will be attempting his first start as an ASA Latemodel driver this season. Willie made a few starts in 2006 to gain some experience, but not enough to damage his 2007 rookie status.

ASA Latmodel drivers will now have to wait until May 19th to see how the 2007 season unfolds, but racing will be full blast this coming Saturday night, April the 28th.

The always popular ASA Northwest Sprintcar Series drivers (NSRA) headline the next event and will see support from the Oregon Tool J- Cars, Modifieds, Pepsi Mini Stocks, Taco Bell Hornets and Spectacular Drags.

Spectator Gates open at 4pm and Racing starts at 6pm. Admission pricing remains the same as previous years at only $15 for Adults, $13 for Seniors, Students age 7-12 only $5 and Kids 6 and under admitted free! Visa and Mastercard are excepted for advance tickets and are available exclusivley at Oregon Tool and Supply in Roseburg.
