Salem Recap: ARCA RE/MAX Series rookie Phillip McGilton enters Kansas Speedway following a career best seventh place finish at Salem Speedway last Sunday. Following Salem, McGilton picked up one position and sits third in the ARS championship standings.

Sweet Result: McGilton is looking forward to coming back to Kansas Speedway this weekend. In this same event last year, the rookie qualified 15th before soldiering to a solid ninth place finish behind the wheel of his own No. 42 SIPerformance Ford Taurus.

Busy Week: Before heading to Kansas Speedway, McGilton and his Brewco Motorsports team spent Tuesday testing at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky preparing for the first of two events at the sister track to Kansas Speedway next month.

Welcome Aboard: The Brewco Motorsports team welcomes Montgomery Equipment onboard the No. 47 Ford Fusion for the remainder of the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season beginning with Friday’s race at Kansas Speedway. Continuing To Lead The Way: In addition to running for the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship, McGilton is also running for Rookie-of-the-Year honors, which he currently leads the standings following his superb finish at Salem Speedway. McGilton finished ahead of his biggest rival Bryan Silas who finished eighth at Salem last weekend.

Brewco Motorsports, Kansas Speedway Pre-Race Quotes:

Phillip McGilton, driver of the No. 47 Montgomery Equipment Ford:

On Salem: “We had a great run at Salem Speedway. We did what we needed to do. We learned a lot, stayed out of trouble and finished the race. It was a career best weekend for me, so it was definitely neat. Hopefully we can continue the good fortunate at Kansas this Friday.”

On Returning To Kansas: “I am definitely looking forward to going back to Kansas Speedway. We had a pretty good run there last year. We’ve prepared extensively for this race, so as a group, we’re looking forward to having a good run on Friday.”

On This Week’s Kentucky Speedway Test: “It’s always good to test. We spent the day adjusting the car as we sought fit to try and get a comfortable setup for next month’s race. Kentucky Speedway is a lot like Kansas Speedway. We have a good car for the race, so we should be in contention for the win.”

On The New Sponsor: “This is a really exciting opportunity for myself, Montgomery Equipment, and Brewco Motorsports. With the help of Montgomery Equipment, we will be able to do more testing to make a serious run for the championship. Now we feel like we don’t have to hold anything back.”

On His Season So Far: “We’ve come a long way in a very short amount of time. I cannot say enough about the Brewco Motorsports team. They give 150 percent every week all looking at the same picture, winning. We’re sitting very solid in the point standings early in the season, we just hope to stay there and be in contention when the end of the season begins to roll around.”
